Tuition and Fee Policies

The non-refundable Registration Fee should accompany your Enrollment Application. Personal Checks, Business Checks, Money Orders, International Wire Transfer or Traveler’s Checks are the only accepted forms of payment.

Make check payable to:

Mr. Thomas Shortell, International Coordinator
Tlatoani Language School
610 Mc Carten St.
Monroe, NC 28112-4552

The school can accept an international wire transfer for registration, tuition fees and housing. Please contact us if you prefer this method and we will provide you with the necessary information.

Tuition must be paid in full on or before your first day of class. Accepted forms of payment are: Bank Transfer in US Funds, US Dollars,  US Travelers Checks or Mexican Pesos at the current exchange rate for total tuition.  Our International Office can not accept tuition payments without prior arrangements and approval by the Administrative Office at the school.

Housing Costs can be paid separately upon arrival. Payment can be made using US Dollars, US Traveler’s Checks or Mexican Pesos at the current exchange rate and can be paid at the school on the first day of classes. Please note that no adjustment will be made to the housing fees  for meals eaten out instead of with the host family.

Tranportation Guide - As a service to our students, we can arrange for a Representative of the school to meet you at the airport and accompany you on the trip from Mexico City to your Host Home in Buenavista.  You will be responsible for transportation costs. Your guide will facilitate your transfer and arrival to Buenavista.

Refund Policy

All tuition and registration fees are non-refundable. If a student needs to shorten his/her stay in Buenavista after classes have begun, unused class time will be credited to the student’s record for use at a later date within 12 months from date of departure. There will be no additional registration charges.

Substitutes - A student can send a substitute in his/her place to use up any remaining tuition on the student's account within the specified 12 months. In the event of a Substitute, the current registration fee will be charged to cover the administrative costs of setting up a new student file.

Housing Payments will be refunded for any unused stays. Reimbursement in US funds will be mailed to the party who made the original payment within 15 days of the student's date of departure. The school may, at its sole discretion, reimburse the student directly in local Mexican currency. The student receiving the reimbursement  will be required to sign a receipt stating that he/she received the funds.

Cancellation Fee

If a student cancels or shortens his/her stay after the start of scheduled class, the student will be charged a $25 dollar (USD) cancellation fee.

Discounts

Returning students are eligible for a 10% tuition discount if they return within 18 months after class completion.

*Text Books

We recommend that when possible, students purchase their books prior to arrival at Tlatoani Language School. The school maintains a small quantity of books on hand, however, it is cost prohibitive for us to stock large quantities of the texts to make available for student purchase. Shipping and import duties add dramatically to the cost of the texts. Students bringing the text with them are not charged an import duty by Mexican Customs since the book is for personal use. Books can be rented at the school for classroom use.

Once a student registers and has paid the registration fee, the student will receive a placement exam either via email or US Mail. The results of the  placement exam will dictate the level that the student will be placed in and thus the level of the program that the student should purchase.  Students wishing to purchase their own text may do so directly from the Platiquemos-Let's Talk website.
